We believe in the importance of giving back to communities where we live and work. Through NLC’s Community Donations Program, we provide donations of $1,000 to charities and non-profit organizations that are making a positive impact at a local level.
Registered charities and non-profit organizations are eligible to apply for NLC’s Community Donations program. Programs and projects must have an impact in Newfoundland and Labrador in the areas of Social Responsibility, Food Security, Mental Health and Community Wellness, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion or Environmental Sustainability.
How to apply
Eligible charities and non-profit organizations must fill out the NLC Community Donation application form. Applications are accepted four times per year. If you apply after the deadline, your application will be accepted for the following round. Approved applicants must wait a full year before applying again.

Programs Not Eligible for Support
The following requests do not meet criteria for NLC’s Community Donations program,
and are not eligible for support:
For-profit organizations
Individuals or individual families
Projects or programs outside Newfoundland and Labrador
Political, labour, fraternal organizations, or civic clubs
Religious or sectarian programs or purposes
Third-party organizations raising funds for charities
Travel-related events, including student trips or tours
Conferences or seminars
Film productions
Memorial campaigns
Direct mail campaigns
Sports teams or sporting events
Individual schools
Professional trade groups
Event sponsorships
Third-party in-store fundraising, except for pre-approved causes
Gift cards or product (including discounts for products) for fundraising or charitable purposes
(e.g. door prizes, raffles, auction items, etc.)
Organizations that do not share NLC’s values, as well as organizations that discriminate against
individuals based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age,
national origin, disability or any legally protected characteristic
Below is a list of local registered charities and non-profit organizations throughout the province that have received funding from NLC. To date, $20,000 has been donated through the program to support programs and initiatives in key areas including food security, mental health and community wellness, diversity, equity, and inclusion, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability.

Central Northeast Health Foundation- Food security and Wayfinding initiative
Mi’kmaw Cultural Foundation- Youth cultural programming
Boys and Girls Club, St. Anthony – Food and Snack Program Support
Candlelighters NL – STEM activities at Camp Delight
Stephenville Crossing Recreation- Community activities for seniors and low income individuals
Vera Perlin Society- Programs and services for those living with intellectual disabilities
Battle Harbour Assisted Living Corporation- Garden program for residents
Dr. Jack Hand Legacy Foundation- Financial support for families with a child who has oncology or hematology related illness
