Community Donations

We believe in the importance of giving back to communities where we live and work. Through NLC’s Community Donations Program, we provide donations of $1,000 to charities and non-profit organizations that are making a positive impact at a local level.
Registered charities and non-profit organizations are eligible to apply for NLC’s Community Donations program. Programs and projects must have an impact in Newfoundland and Labrador in the areas of Social Responsibility, Food Security, Mental Health and Community Wellness, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion or Environmental Sustainability.

How to apply

Eligible charities and non-profit organizations must fill out the NLC Community Donation application form. Applications are accepted four times per year. If you apply after the deadline, your application will be accepted for the following round. Approved applicants must wait a full year before applying again.

Below is a list of local registered charities and non-profit organizations throughout the province that have received funding from NLC. To date, $20,000 has been donated through the program to support programs and initiatives in key areas including food security, mental health and community wellness, diversity, equity, and inclusion, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability.

  • Dr. Jack Hand Legacy Foundation – Financial support for families with a child who has oncology or hematology related illness
  • Kids Help Phone – Youth mental health support
  • Nain Transitional House Inc. – Personal care items
  • Easter Seals Newfoundland and Labrador – "I Can Too" Disability Education Program
  • Burin Area Food Pantry – Community food bank
  • The Pottle Centre – Programs for those recovering from addiction and mental health related illness
  • Kidney Foundation of Canada, Atlantic Branch – Food security for Kidney Patients in NL
  • The Loft - Clarenville and Area Community Youth Network Inc - Funding to support youth programs and community initiatives.
  • Helping Hands Family Aid - Funding to support the community food bank.
  • O'Brien's Farm Foundation - Funding to support summer long gardening and cooking program for youth.
  • ElevateHER Mental Health Support Services Canada - Funding to cover the cost of delivering the #NotANumber child and youth exploitation and trafficking prevention training.
  • St. John Council for Newfoundland and Labrador Inc - Funding to help offset the costs of Naloxone for Medical First Responder program.
